THEMATIC COLLABORATIVE CLUSTER: COASTAL RESILIENCE AND RESTORATION

SALT MARSH RESTORATION AND FUNCTION

Our team is working to determine how well restored salt marshes are functioning for ecological communities years after restoration. While restored marshes function for resident and ephemeral species, there is room to improve how fast and how well this happens. This project is already bringing key insights into how to improve function for ecological communities during future restoration actions as we aim to combat rising seas.

Additionally, the team was just funded with Connecticut College to continue expanding work to protect shorelines from erosion, increasing sedimentation rates and allowing for salt marsh cordgrass to recover.
